| Weardale - Northumberland 2 hour Heritage tour. This is a beautiful tour for those who enjoy seeing the heritage of the Dales combined with stunning rugged scenery. . We start this trike tour in the tranquil settings of Bradley Burn, Wolsingham which is 25 mins outside Durham City. From here we ride through the countryside past Derwent reservoir then to Blanchland, reputed to be one of the prettiest villages in England, Once the location of Blanchland Abbey and a popular destination for visitors from all over the world. From here we cross the Grouse moor which on a good day have views as far as the scottish borders until we head high in the hills past athe various hush mines, pumping houses and flu's and then to the pit head at Rookhope and to Allenheads, home of the famous 'Armstrong Hydraulic Engine'. Now we cross the border to Killope lead mining centre ( winner of visitor attraction of the year ), before cruising back the full length of upper and lower Weardale, past the tranquil Burnhope reservoir, Wear Head, St Johns chapel (named after John Wesley, methodist minister), Westgate, Stanhope & all the pretty dales villages in between before coming full circle home to Bradley Burn farmshop & restaraunt.
