What can we say about Tan Hill ?
At 1732 ft above sea level its Britains highest pub, its so old that the site is recorded in the doomsday book. It was reputed to be haunted 300 years ago, it has a roaring coal fire, serves real ale, good food and has a variety of livestock running around the bar, oh yes, and its the best place in the world (words of my 3 year old daughter).
Our tour starts at the pub and heads off towards Keld taking in some fine views of Bowes moor.
We head along into Swaledale past the waterfalls along a beautiful road which follows the river through the rocky craggs.
Into cumbria along vast expances of rolling moorland where the views of the hills and mountains as the light constantly changes are breath taking. On into Kirby Stephen and towards Barras before coming full circle through the Yorkshire National Park and back to theTan Hill Inn.
Spectacular views of Swaledale, Cumbria, the Eden Valley, Bowes moor and the Yorkshire National Park.
